From a pub team to a Christchurch Sunday league institution — this is the short version.
Dux De Lux FC was founded in 1982, taking its name and its home from the Dux De Lux — later Dux Central — the central Christchurch pub that has anchored the club ever since. The idea has never really changed: gather a team, play good, honest Sunday football, and come back to the pub afterwards to talk about it.
At the club's peak, Dux De Lux fielded four men's teams and two women's teams across the Christchurch Sunday competitions — one of the largest single-club contingents in the league. Earthquakes, pub closures and the usual ebb and flow of amateur football have tested the club since, but the name has stayed on the fixture list every single season.

The club's marquee knockout — Dux De Lux has reached the final twelve times, including a title in 1982, the same year the club was founded.
The club's other knockout — and arguably its best cup record. Nine titles, most recently Dux De Lux Old Boys in 2025.
🏆 In 1988 and 1989, Dux De Lux met itself in the CSSL Trophy final two years running — Dux De Lux B beat Dux De Lux C in 1988, then Dux De Lux C returned the favour in 1989. Genuinely one club, both finalists, twice.

Dux De Lux FC is founded out of the Dux De Lux pub in central Christchurch, entering Christchurch's Sunday football competition.
The club grows to field four men's teams and two women's teams in a single season — one of the biggest turnouts of any Sunday league club in Canterbury.
Following the Canterbury earthquakes and changes at the pub, the club regroups. Numbers dip, but the fixture never disappears — Dux De Lux keeps a team on the park every season.
Dux De Lux Old Boys win the CSSL Cup, giving the club its first silverware in years and sparking a fresh wave of interest across the club.
Four men's teams compete across the CSSL divisions, plus Ferrymead Bays Dux — a joint side with Ferrymead Bays — playing women's football in the SIMG Sunday Womens competition. All five train and socialise out of the newly rebranded Dux Central.
